Two painter's palettes with mixed oil paints, one with shades of green and other colors, and the other with various colors including browns, reds, and greens. Nearby are tubes of oil paints, paintbrushes, and tools in a wooden box, all on a worktable.

About Subhanjali

Painter in oil, acrylic and watercolor, creating portraits, cultural and devotional paintings, landscapes and florals from a home studio in Texas.

A woman with dark, curly hair wearing a black lace top is painting on a canvas set up on an easel. She is holding a paintbrush and a palette, working on a landscape scene with trees and sky. There is a picture of a dog on the wall behind her.

My Story

My painting began with a single lotus, painted in one four-hour sitting from a photograph I took at the Butchart Gardens. One painting led to the next.

Today I paint in oil, acrylic and watercolor: portraits of people and pets, cultural and devotional subjects, landscapes and florals, and portraits reimagined from old photographs, often for families who have no other picture of someone they love.

After years in a technical career, I now paint full time. The patience and eye for detail I built there come with me to the easel.
